Ever wondered why the simple things in life just cannot get fixed? I was looking for some super strong double sided tape to mount my third brake light onto the rear windscreen of my car. According to the gimps who work at the car shops, this tape only comes pre-applied to the brake lights and you can’t buy it. So I conveniently took one of the sales assistants outside and pointed to the sky. He looked at me bewildered and said “Sir is there anything I can help you with?”

“Look up there my son. Do you know how far away the moon is?” I asked.

“No, but it’s quite far away I guess.” He replied sheepishly.

“Do you know that we have sent people to walk on the surface of the moon?” I asked again.

“Um…yes” He replied.

“So you mean to tell me we can send people up there in a capsule. They can exit this capsule into an atmosphere of zero gravity and survive. Then they can get back in this capsule, shoot back down to earth and land on a tarred runway. And you are telling me you can’t get me a piece of double sided tape to mount a brake light?”

“Sir there is nothing I can do, we don’t stock that tape”

Well there is something you can do. Get on your fucking little telephone, phone every shop in the world that sells or makes tape and find me some! Do you know that from earth we can take photos of planets millions of miles away and from space we can take photos of people walking in the street? We can do all this but we can’t make after market double sided tape for brake lights. Hell we can’t even make a kettle that lasts longer than a couple of months. What has the world come to? Not much it seems.
